PREVIEW: Mano Erina's second Indies Single Lucky Aura is being released in just 3 days and the cover for the much anticipated (sarcasm? no, yes?) single has been released.
I'm still waiting for this girl to WOW me. I think the general consensus was that ManoPiano left much to be desired. I don't think she sings all that well and I don't think she's that good of a performer. I'm at a loss as to why this girl is a soloist BUT... I'm leaving myself open to being won over. This song pretty much NEEDS to be an upbeat, happy, fun song. If we get another ManoPiano I'm just going to roll over and go back to sleep. Wake me up when she has proven herself, thanks.
Am I being overly harsh? Perhaps I'm being a bit critical but in this time of soloist crisis in H!P, I think we need a girl who truly shows that she is soloist material. Manoeri stood out in Ongaku Gatas not because she was a fabulous singer or performer, but because she was semi-good looking - for the guys that like that sort of (underage) thing.
While you can obviously base a solo career on looks alone, she won't win over anyone other than the most dedicated H!P wota. We need another Ayaya or dare I say, another Goto Maki. A girl who is both good looking AND can sing and perform her ass off. Can Manoeri do this? Perhaps, but for me she hasn't come close to the type of talent Aya and Maki showed at an even earlier age.
I WANT her to be great and I WANT her to bring some great solo material back into H!P. I hope she can, but she has a lot of work to do.

Do you think that is why she is releasing indie's and not real singles?
She is cute! :) If Koharu made it, she will too.
Oh definitely, I think the indie singles will help her improve and generate a fanbase. C-ute went the indies route and it worked wonders for them.
Koharu might not be the best singer but she does have a very popular anime promoting each of her releases. Without that I don't think her solo career would be anywhere near as popular, unfortunately.
Hmm. This single will tell the tale. I liked the first piano piece only because I liked Manoeri. Why doesn;t Tsunku just hook her up to an existing ensemble? Was Manoeri that hard to get along with?
Well I've done a review now of the song and I think it's an improvement from her previous single.
In regards to not just putting her in a group, I really think that if they had kept Mano in OGs for another year or two it would have really helped her (providing they kept them regularly working, which they didn't .. pff). I think though, the reaction to Mano was very positive from the get go, lots of people noticed her, so they wanted to get her out there while there was still a buzz, maybe?
