Oricon Roundup 9/2: Kids on Top

ORICON ROUNDUP: High sales on the singles chart this week as L'Arc~en~Ciel scores close to 110K sales for their newie NEXUS 4 / SHINE, but it just wasn't enough to dethrone the unstoppable KinKi Kids who scored their 27th consecutive no.1 with Secret Code.

KinKi Kids' sales of 187K saw their Guinness World Record of no.1 singles extended, each of their singles since debut holding the much coveted no.1 position. L'Arc~en~Ciel's single sees them drop down from their previous single's top chart spot, despite selling over 15K more copies than DRINK IT DOWN. Hard luck on a strong week.
The ending result saw the top 4 positions on the chart all selling above 50K with last week's no.1 Truth / Kaze no Mukou he selling a handy 63.5K copies to take 3rd position, while Acid Black Cherry's 20th Century Boys took 4th with 50.2K. ARASHI's newest single leaps above One Love in total sales making it the best selling single of 2008 so far.
Hisokan, Shonan Nokaze, AAA and Every Little Thing posted top 10 debuts while Fuijioka Fujimaki / Oohashi Nozomi and Southern All Stars held on for the 7th and 8th positions. Gake no Ue no Ponyo, the theme for the Studio Ghibli film of the same title, has now collected sales of over 230K since being released last last year.

On the album charts, Amuro Namie continues her domination with little fight, almost doubling sales over her closest opposition. Her 62.7K copies sold were no match for Tokunaga Hideaki's SINGLES BEST which sold almost 32K in its third week to take no.2. These sales see BEST FICTION surpass EXILE CATCHY BEST as the highest selling album released this year with accumulated sales of over 1.24 million.

New releases from EXILE's DJ MAKIDAI and livetunes collaboration with Hatsune Miku (a vocally synthesized virtual idol) also charted in the top 5. RSP's debut album DICE scored a top 10 position at no.7 with 16K sales.
